The 2026 Arkansas Flute Festival was thrilled to have @jasminechoi_flutist as the guest artist for its second annual festival, hosted at the University of Arkansas this past January. @uarkbands @uofamusic Dr. Cristina Ballatori @cristinaballatori , is the Assistant Professor of Flute at the University of Arkansas @uarkflutes , and she has made such exciting things happen for the flute community in Arkansas, including these festivals. HOWDY! Here’s a brief introduction about me! ☀️

Hi! My name is Jill and I am a flutist finishing up my undergraduate studies at the University of Arkansas. I will soon be attending graduate school this coming fall, and I’m currently awaiting all the letters from the seven schools I auditioned at. I am currently student teaching! I am learning how to direct, teach, and conduct effectively in the band class setting. It has been wildly insightful and quite the challenge for me! I do not like to put myself in the “flute performance” or “music education” box, so I am learning to become well diverse to both outlets of focus. I have an amazing family, and they have been my biggest support through this journey. I also have 3 Shih Tzus at home- George, Oscar, and Cooper. 💫

I wrote this on my whiteboard calendar as I was redoing it for March- anticipating on all the various news I would be receiving this month. This has been an important reminder for this next chapter of my life! I am excited, overwhelmed, nervous, and grateful. ♥️

I had a blast auditioning at Eastman, and I’m having even more of a blast because it was the last audition! Traveling to 7 auditions was a rewarding experience, and I have grown so much as a musician and as a person. I cannot believe it is done! ☑️ now we wait…
